Following the recent factory fire in Pingtung that once again cost firefighters their lives, Kee Fresh & Safe Foodtech Co., Ltd. — a leading HPP (High Pressure Processing) cold-pressed juice manufacturer in the Pingtung Technology Industrial Park — donated a MOTIONNEX® smart connected firefighting robot, developed and built locally by CT Engineering, to the Pingtung County Fire Bureau on 10 November as part of its corporate social responsibility. The robot will be stationed with the Pingtung 2nd Squad to protect the factories and residents in its district, and the company hopes more enterprises will follow.
With AI and other advanced technologies developing rapidly, technology-assisted disaster response is an inevitable trend, and conventional firefighting equipment can no longer meet today's demands for intelligence, timeliness and ease of operation.
Magistrate Chou Chun-mi said: "The quality of firefighting equipment is directly tied to the safety of residents' lives and property. The robot donated today is Taiwan's first smart connected firefighting robot, developed and manufactured by CT Engineering. Its powerful water output, longer remote-control range and strong towing capability greatly enhance firefighting capacity and add another layer of protection for the people of Pingtung."
Chairman Liao Jih-hsing added: "Modern industrial parks are diverse and make on-site rescue harder. Beyond giving back to society, we chose the first domestically built MOTIONNEX® smart connected robot — winner of the 2024 Taiwan Excellence Award, with an IoT platform that is easy to maintain in Taiwan — because it matches our own belief in using technology to create value."
The MOTIONNEX® FRT-509E has served with the Kaohsiung City Fire Bureau since 2022, with proven on-site capability and deployments supporting other counties. Its maintenance centre is in Chiayi, with a full stock of MIT parts — no waiting for imported components and no high repair costs.
"To cope with Taiwan's varied fire scenes we place great importance on the versatility and local suitability of firefighting robots. We gathered fire-scene data across Taiwan, worked closely with frontline firefighters and combined decades of powered-chassis experience with rigorous testing at our own proving ground, so that firefighters no longer have to face explosions, toxic gases, dense smoke and oxygen-deficient environments directly," said CT Engineering chairman Lin Hung-chieh.

Backed by CT Engineering's 60 years in electric drive systems, MOTIONNEX® is the only firefighting robot in Taiwan that can be modularly expanded with multiple hardware and software options to help firefighters control critical situations:
- Intense fire, dense smoke and high heat: high flow, strong towing and sufficient range — the monitor delivers up to 4,800 L/min with an effective range of 80 m, and the operator can control the robot from up to 300 m away.
- Chaotic scene information: an integrated real-time video system with multiple sensors — visible-light and infrared thermal cameras (−20 °C to 1,050 °C) and a 5-gas detector for CO, H₂S and VOCs — with 4G IoT connectivity sending scene data back to the command vehicle for fast, accurate decisions.
- Fires that spread and need long monitoring: a large battery gives 15 hours of stationary water discharge.
Hardware modules can be tailored to local needs and software upgraded over time, extending future firefighting tactics and applications.
